Description of Soil Vapor Sampling

      The vapor sampling system is driven to 4-8' below ground level.  After purging the systems, a vacuum system is used to lift 1000ml of soil vapor from T.D. to the surface and across the gas-sieve.  C1-C18 hydrocarbons, present in the soil vapor, are collected and concentrated onto the gas-sieve.  Each sampling event requires about 7 minutes.
